Call for Proposals

Proposals should focus on one or more of these conference themes:

  1. Social justice and institutional discrimination
  2. The challenge of designing and delivering effective courses in an online environment
  3. Making the campus experience (physical or virtual!) inviting, personal, and meaningful
  4. Topics that impact teaching and learning, educational practices, and leadership

Proposal topics should:

  1. Align with and support the conference themes/goals
  2. Have an impact on the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning or educational practices
  3. Share innovation, scholarship, work in progress, or institutional change that attracts participant interest and stimulates lively discussion
  4. Offer added value to the participants

Please note that all session materials will either be included in the conference binder (which every attendee receives) and/or made available online. If you wish to bring handouts that you will distribute during your workshop, you are welcome to do so. If you have prerequisite readings or pre-activities for your workshop, please indicate this in your facilitation plan and be sure to include the readings or activity resources with the package of materials you submit.


Workshop (Research/Scholarship or Practitioner-Oriented)

These workshops are 75-minute explorations of current practice OR scholarship with an eye to advancing pertinent research (additional projects, collaboration, and publications). All Workshop Sessions Proposals must be submitted through the conference submission portal and include items listed in the Proposal Submission Guide

Proposal Guidelines

All proposals must be submitted through the submission form and should include the following:

  • Author details (name, title, institutional affiliation, brief bio)
  • Type of presentation (Symposia, Workshop: Practitioner-Oriented, Workshop: Scholarship-Oriented, Poster (Hall of Innovation), or Research Paper)
  • Mode of delivery (synchronous or asynchronous)
  • Title of presentation
  • A brief explanation of how the proposal topic aligns with the conference themes
  • Abstract/Description (100-150 words)

Plenary/Symposia Sessions

These 90-minute sessions will provide for a group to come together and design a symposium to address a specific aspect of one of the Conference Goals. These sessions will take place on each day of the Conference and should assist in bringing closure to the conference experience. All Plenary/Symposia Sessions proposals must be submitted through the conference submission portal and include items listed in the Proposal Submission Guide.

Poster Session

These asynchronous sessions will center on a specific teaching innovation or design that can be shared via brief video and a PowerPoint slide deck. All Hall of Innovation proposals must be submitted through the conference submission portal and include items listed in the Proposal Submission Guide

Research Paper

These discussion sessions will include a selection of three papers focused on a particular theme. Authors will present a 10-minute overview of their paper and then participate in a facilitated 60-minute discussion with session participants. (Conference participants will have already read the research papers.) All Research Paper Session proposals must be submitted through the conference submission portal and include items listed in the Proposal Submission Guide
