California Health Sciences University (CHSU) has
graciously agreed to host the 2017 PE Conference.
This is our first year on the west coast and we're
excited to shake things up a bit!
Dr. Wendy Duncan, a long-time Process Educator and Scholar, is the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, Provost and Interim Dean of Pharmacy at CHSU. As such, it is no surprise that CHSU is committed to fostering the professional development and intellectual growth of its students, equipping them to be professional leaders.
The central mission of California Health Sciences
University College of Pharmacy is to improve the
healthcare outcomes of people living in Central
California by providing highly trained,
collaborative and compassionate pharmacists,
committed to practicing at the top of their
licenses. It strives to fulfill its mission in three
ways:
- By providing a challenging, pioneering
curriculum that is supported by cutting-edge
pedagogy and a culture of growth and success;
- By engaging in impactful community engagement – both to support regional health outcomes and to engender students’ enthusiasm for and commitment to serving the healthcare needs of the people of the Central Valley, and;
- By providing opportunities for students to participate in interprofessional practice, leadership and scholarly activities so that they are capable, upon graduation, to engage boldly in all their pursuits.
Clovis is situated in Fresno County, California. The
2014 population was estimated to be 102,189. Clovis
is located 6.5 miles northeast of downtown Fresno,
at an elevation of 361 feet. According to the United
States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of
23.28 square miles.
The city of Clovis began as a
freight stop along the San Joaquin Valley Railroad.
Clovis was incorporated as a city in February 1912.
Many buildings in the town core have been renovated.
Older storefronts on Clovis Avenue, the main street
running through town, have been restored and new
buildings have been designed with facades that
resemble those found in the early 20th century. The
historic center has been reborn as "Old Town
Clovis".
Clovis is situated midway between Los
Angeles and San Francisco, bordering Fresno, in the
agriculturally rich San Joaquin Valley. Lying at the
foot of the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range, which
includes Yosemite, Kings Canyon, and Sequoia
National Parks, Clovis has been known as "Gateway to
the Sierras" since its incorporation in 1912. (From
