What engaged or excited you most about learning when YOU were a student?
I have always been excited about books and learning about ideas, people and
places that were outside of my sphere of operation. For example, our Freedman
High School teachers challenged students to ‘stretch’ by comporting ourselves
and performing as college students – to read broadly, think critically, debate
current events, and write formal papers for presentation. Meeting those
expectations was rewarding and provided a foundation for me to develop my own
learning path.
