Dan Apple’s Level
of Commitment to the Self-Growth Community
This academic year 2019/2020 will have my whole focus on Self-Growth
development process.
Over the last year I have dedicated at least 1,000
hours on the research, personal practice, development, coaching and creation of
Self-Growth individually, within the PE community and organizationally. The
research expands the following areas – 7 Principles of Student Learning and
Success (Culture that supports growth); Performance Descriptions for Performance
Development; Methodology for Self-Growth; Performance Framework; Barriers to
Implementing L2L and Self-Growth; Methodology for Performance Development;
Writing Performance Criteria; Interpretation of Assessment; Role of CLS in
Performance Mentoring and Life Coaching Quality of Life. These papers have led
to 10 new ideas for new papers. The PE conference had at least 15 different
sessions on some aspect of growth and Self-Growth. From the Academic Recovery
Courses and its research, the integration of Self-Growth is more integrated.
Worked on upgrading the 2nd edition of L2L Becoming a Self-grower and the
Self-Growth methodology is now integrated into the set of experiences. The
Self-Growth community and the mentoring of people in the process along with
designing and implementing the Self-Growth Institute.
This year my goal is to advance the Self-Growth
Institute to make it 3 times the power of the amazingly powerful 1st time event
in August. Review the Report on the Self-Growth Institute to explore how
powerful the event was. I want to support current people who have been through
the institute and/or through the Self-Growth community last year and a select
few additional people who need to be part of this experience – 2nd year of the
Self-Growth community (current and future leaders of the Academy).
Here is my personal commitment:
- Help you to increase your growth capability (Personal growth rate) by
15% this year
- Provide you with an effective life coach that will assist you with
increasing your quality of life
- Provide you with a performance mentor in 3 key identified areas to grow
performance by 25% in that area
- Model the process of annual growth and Self-Growth development
- Provide opportunity to apply your growth by helping the PE Academy in a
significant role
- Help you become a significant player in PE Academy DDO initiative
- Facilitate the Self-Growth Institute before the PE Conference June 20 –
24, 2020
And here is what I am asking each member of the 50 members of the
community to commit to this year: That you are:
- Willing to allocate space and time to prioritize Self-Growth and the
Self-Growth of the PE Academy as a key component of your 2019/2020 activities.
- Willing to commit to self that you want to become a much stronger self-grower
by the end of the academic year. You want to and desire to become the
self-grower role model for your family, colleagues, students, and every person
you meet.
- Willing to commit to the Self-Growth community by
- developing a personal growth plan for the year by October 15th;
- developing a Self-Growth plan for the year by November 1st
- playing a role within the Self-Growth community: new participant, performance
mentor, or life coach;
- meeting online for at least 75% of the scheduled meetings (1st and 3rd
Wednesdays at 8 pm eastern);
- working your two plans with a provided life coach and performance mentor in
between the sessions;
- sharing two self-assessments monthly on progress of both plans;
- and maybe collaborating on at least one research project of interest.
- Willing to commit to the Academy of Process Educators by
- identifying a desired role that needs to be fulfilled in the Academy that
will stretch current capabilities that will cause growth; /li>
- creating a plan of action for the role/project within the academy;
- using this opportunity as part of growth and Self-Growth plans;
- helping Wendy Duncan make the DDO initiative the strongest
accomplishment/result the Academy has produced during any given year.
