This February, Grace Onodipe and Kathleen Burke attended Virginia Tech’s Conference on Higher Education Pedagogy in Blacksburg VA, where they shared their insights on using AI to enhance—not replace—student learning. Kathy has been a longtime mentor to Grace through the Process Education (PE) community, where they are currently the only economists. Over the past three years, they have continued collaborating on PE, flipped learning, and now AI in education. Their session, Practical Strategies for Integrating AI in the College Classroom: To Enhance, not Replace, Learning, showcased how AI tools like ChatGPT can act as interactive tutors, generate personalized study materials, and boost student engagement in the economics and business statistics classroom. Kathy and Grace’s work demonstrates the power of mentorship in advancing innovation and effective teaching practices in higher education.

This is a very timely topic and I hope you are planning to share it at the conference, or, at the Professional Development Forum. Congratulations!
