The Academy Self-Growth Community is meeting again via ZOOM on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays (one-hour sessions at 5:30 pm and 7:00 pm for your convenience). Archives from past sessions can be found HERE, along side the Academy Member’s site. Session materials are linked in forum that includes threads for posting thoughts about preparation and documentation of group activity during the session.
Our April 5th session is entitled “Exploring the Role of Intervention Analyst“. This comes out of recent work by Ingrid Ulbrich and Steve Beyerlein to facilitate a customized, online a faculty development workshop on Transforming Struggling Students into Stronger Learners. The session builds on readings from the Faculty Guidebook about ‘constructive interventions’, introduces an updated intervention log for planning/assessing interactions, and invites participants to brainstorm ideas for expanding the impact of this tool in realizing growth opportunities with different populations of learners/growers.
Our April 19th session is entitled “Mapping out New Performance Areas for Self-Growth” and is intended to detail performance areas and foci for performance enhancement that extend beyond general Process Education methodologies that have been the standard fare in past curriculum development and faculty development workshops. For instance, did you know that Tris Utschig is a Ninja Warrior? Join the session to find out what this involves along with other novel performance areas that are personal passions of regular self-growth community attendees. There will be an opportunity for a 4-5 people in each session to stories about personal growth in a unique area and learn how these are translated into personalized growth planning. Why not come prepared to share your own!
We love to have new members join us, so by all means extend an invitation to colleagues who might enjoy these sessions. It isn’t necessary to commit to attending every session. Drop-ins are welcome and have contributed greatly to our gatherings this year.
