Why?

This session introduces a framework for how we talk with our students, our colleagues, and others in ways acknowledge them as individuals and empower them toward transformational change. Further, the Academy of Process Educators is a volunteer organization, and as such can only thrive given an environment where interaction with each other is mutually beneficial. The way we talk impacts those interactions and can support us in working to achieve wildly audacious success together, yet as individuals.

Learning Outcomes

At the conclusion of the activity participants will...

  1. Apply the seven languages for transformational development to ourselves at work and within the Academy.
  2. Analyze how our own roles in the Academy can be enhanced when placed within the context of our own goals.
  3. Create an action plan for oneself to use incremental changes in the way we talk to help us pursue our own goals and those of the Academy.

Performance Criteria

Critical thinker - Monitor the way we talk during the session to highlight the impact of the language used and share major insights about how we talk affecting how we work within the session.

Goal oriented - Be mindful of how personal goals relate to the goals of the group and of the Academy as you participate.

Plan

  2. Answer the critical thinking questions on the forum for the session before the session begins.
